AksIM-2™ is a non-contact high performance off-axis absolute rotary encoder designed for applications with limited installation space. The compact, low profile readhead detects and evaluates the magnetic field of a thin, axially magnetized ring.
AksIM-2™ Redundant
Off-Axis Rotary Absolute Magnetic Encoder Module
The AksIM-2 encoder has a built-in advanced self-monitoring function that continuously checks several internal parameters. Error reports, warnings and other status signals are available on all communication interfaces and are with the on-board LED. Redundant readheads consist of two identical, completely independent and electrically isolated readheads. These are suitable for advanced applications that require a higher level of security. This configuration can be used to monitor the encoder position via two independent channels. The difference between the channels is about 180°. Due to the digital barcode magnetization on the ring, the encoder is fully redundant even when using a single ring.

Within the miniature chip is the processing circuitry to provide outputs in absolute SSI, incremental, linear voltage, tacho and UVW formats with resolutions to 12 bit. The zero position can also be selected at point of installation. The AM4096 can be used in a wide range of non-contact position or velocity measurements, such as motor motion control and commutation, robotics, camera positioning, various encoder applications, battery powered devices and other demanding high resolution applications.

Installation tool for Artos™ rings
A special installation tool can be supplied for easier, more reliable and time-saving installation of the readhead in relation to the ring. The installation tool limits the readhead in 6 directions (ride height/radial offset, centerline/tangential, yaw, axial/lateral, pitch and roll offset) and thus ensures precise alignment of the readhead, guaranteeing optimal performance. A dedicated mounting tool is required for each SAR ring to adjust the diameter of the ring. Please check the part number diagram to select the correct installation tool for the selected ring.

UPRG01
Programming Interface
The UPRG01 is a programming interface for use with compatible encoders from RLS. The encoders which support this functionality are the LM10 linear encoder, LM15 linear encoder, LM13 linear encoder and LM13 ring encoder. Note that a special option of the encoders must be ordered with this programmability enabled. The software allows the resolution, edge separation and count direction to be changed for both linear and ring encoders. The interface connects simply to a computer via a USB port.
